Bridging Home and School

Joey, the Kindergarten Kangaroo, has an important job: He connects home and school. Each Kindergartner gets to take Joey home for one weekend, and then shares Joey's adventures with the rest of the class.

Through pictures and drawings, the class gets a peek into the fun Joey has when he leaves the school for the weekend. He might go visit grandparents, have a delicious breakfast, and sleep in a special bed. In this way, each child gets to highlights aspects of his or her home life.

Sometimes, however, Joey will also do such ordinary things as going to the toilet.
